THE ROLE

We are looking for a self-motivated full stack Java developer to join the development team. The development team is integrated with the business, which enables the development team to reach out to the business, learn and understand various aspects of the business to design solutions that match the evolving business needs and foresee potential scalability and maintenance issues.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded developer with vision to make a valuable contribution into the development and design of risk modelling systems.

In this role, the candidate will work in a team that supports Gallagher Re’s financial modelling platform. The web application has been built with Java /JEE and Postgres database and deployed on Azure Cloud. The platform is core to Gallagher Re’s client solutions and new features must be added continuously to stay competitive. The position is in Gallagher Re’s Mumbai/Bangalore office with other team members in Ipswich and London. The candidate must therefore be able to work with little supervision and communicate concisely with all the team members.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/DELIVERABLES

• Contribute to all aspects of the development lifecycle.
• Write well-designed, efficient, and testable code.
• Ensure designs comply with specifications.
• Ensure performance, security, stability, and quality of the application.
• Improve existing system by adding new features in line with business specifications.
• Resolve production issues.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternative solutions and technologies.
• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure smooth data flow.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Collaborate with peers and team members to build scalable, secure, and quality products.
• Perform regular checks and follow best practices to develop, deploy and maintain software.
• Provide support for end-users.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or related subjects.
• Minimum 60% throughout academics – no gaps.
• Proven hands-on Software Development experience.
• Proven working experience in web applications using the Angular 16+ framework.
• Experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Experience with NgRx signals (new approach) or similar modern state management.
• Experience with Angular Material (UI components and theming) & SCSS (Advanced styling and component architecture).
• Problem solving abilities, logical mind, and a positive attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong commitment to build reliable solutions
