Senior Mechanical Engineer – GD&T and ASTM - 10 Years - Orlando, FL

This position is responsible for mechanical engineering on large scale projects.

Project requirements involving mechanical system design from scratch, analysis/calculations (stress/fatigue/etc.), acceleration forces, load calculations, material stress design, failure and effects analysis, risk assessment, component selection, mechanical system installation/commissioning.

Experts in the design, programming and deployment of automation systems for process, manufacturing, commercial buildings and public sector utilities. Skilled at electrical design, control system manufacturing, process integration, programming, testing, training, and ongoing support.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical system design from initial concept through detailed design, integration, installation, and commissioning.

  • Design mechanical systems with complex motion and automated integration, including safety-critical and guest-facing ride systems.

  • Create and modify 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks (or equivalent) to meet project, safety, and performance requirements.

  • Perform engineering analyses including stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, tolerance studies, and risk assessments.

  • Design safety-critical components and implement redundant mitigations to improve system safety and reliability.

  • Design, analyze, and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, governmental, and client codes, standards, and specifications.

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including descriptions of operation, design reports, analysis results, test plans, and maintenance/job plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline with directly applicable experience).

  • Minimum 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 3+ years designing systems from scratch or performing major redesigns.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and experience with GD&T for large-scale, high-duty-cycle systems.

  • Strong knowledge of safety engineering, ASTM standards, and mechanical systems used in automated or attractions environments.

  • Proven ability to manage vendor scope and ensure compliance with safety, functionality, and contract requirements.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; effective in multi-disciplinary, client-facing environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office tools; capable of collecting field data and documenting findings accurately.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, work off-shifts during installation/commissioning, and operate in office, on-site, and industrial environments.
