Controls Engineer – Automation Engineering – 8-10 Years - Orlando, FL 

Senior-level Controls Engineer role supporting complex automation and system integration projects across manufacturing and entertainment environments. The team is targeting 8–10+ years of experience and is looking for someone who can operate independently, design systems from scratch, and support projects through startup and commissioning with minimal ramp-up. This role is hands-on and technical, blending PLC programming, electrical design awareness, and on-site troubleshooting. Candidates with strong industrial automation fundamentals tend to be most successful.

 Location: Orlando, Florida, USA. Direct hire/ Permanent role.

Experts in the design, programming and deployment of automation systems for process, manufacturing, commercial buildings and public sector utilities. Skilled at electrical design, control system manufacturing, process integration, programming, testing, training, and ongoing support.

• Lead end-to-end electrical and control system design, from concept (blank sheet) through implementation, integration, startup, and commissioning.

• Design control panels, power distribution, grounding, and system layouts to optimize performance, safety, voltage drop, and hardware efficiency.

• Develop DCS/PLC control systems (hardware and software) to meet process, client, and safety requirements, including complex motion and automated systems.

• Perform system calculations and analyses such as short-circuit, load flow, power consumption, harmonics, noise mitigation, grounding, and network performance.

• Design and analyze safety-critical control systems, including hazard analysis, redundant mitigations, and SIL/PL-rated safety implementations.

• Manage and coordinate vendor scope to ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety, functionality, and applicable codes and standards.

• Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including descriptions of operation, schematics, panel drawings, network layouts, software design, and test plans.

• Act as technical lead, supporting troubleshooting, diagnostics, root-cause analysis, startup support, and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline with directly applicable experience).

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical and control system design covering most listed responsibilities.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience designing electrical/control systems and panel layouts.

• Strong PLC programming skills (Ladder Logic and Structured Text required; C++, Visual Basic preferred) and experience with major platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).

• Knowledge of safety engineering, ASTM standards, instrumentation, industrial components, and Ethernet-based distributed I/O systems.

• Ability to perform processor loading, scan-time, I/O response, and network delay analyses, and to write efficient, maintainable control code.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; effective in multi-disciplinary environments and client-facing roles.

• Willingness to travel up to 30% (typically ~10%), work off-shifts during commissioning, and operate in office, on-site, and industrial environments.
