I am always amazed at how many times I hear managers say something along the lines of “we don’t really care what you guys think. We just do what we think is best.” That is never going to lead to success. When you let your employees know that you value their opinion, they will start to take ownership of their jobs and feel more invested in the outcome.
Collaboration is one of the core values of any successful organization. In order to foster collaboration, you need to provide opportunities for people to collaborate. Whether it is via a weekly meeting, monthly luncheon, or even a quarterly retreat, you should try to find ways to encourage communication between teams.
If you are in an open-plan office, chances are that you spend a lot of time sitting at your desk. So, it is important to give your employees someplace else to go. A quiet area away from distractions can help them recharge and get back to work refreshed.
6. Have fun!
This might seem obvious, but having fun is a great way to keep morale high. People love to learn when they are enjoying themselves. Find ways to incorporate fun activities into your day-to-day routine. Maybe you could host a trivia night once a month, or maybe you could play games at lunchtime. Whatever you decide, make sure you allow your employees to enjoy themselves while they are at work.
