Business Risk & Control Manager – Insurance Sector (Deputy Manager)

Summary –
We are looking for a highly motivated Business Risk & Control Manager at the Deputy Manager level to join the Enterprise Risk Management function of a leading insurance organization. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and strengthening operational risk frameworks, supporting governance mechanisms, and fostering a robust risk culture across the business.

Responsibilities –

1. Manage and maintain the Operational Loss Database for the assigned function.

2. Enrich the functional risk register and fraud threat library through scenario testing.

3. Conduct periodic control testing to assess efficacy of controls deployed for key risks.

4. Perform thematic risk reviews based on a pre-defined calendar and emerging risk trends.

5. Partner with functional leaders to deliver updates on risk trends and drive improvements in the control environment.

6. Ensure timely updates and tracking of action items (ATR) from board and internal governance forums.

7. Oversee incident closure and reporting at the appropriate governance forums.

8. Promote a proactive risk culture through engagement, awareness, and support to fulfillment teams.

9. Support policy design and communicate risk procedures across business functions.

10. Conduct independent risk assessments prior to process changes and manage residual risk evaluations.

11. Perform assessments related to Segregation of Duties (SoD) and Access Control governance.

Requirements –

1. Minimum 5+ years of experience in managing operations within the Insurance sector.

2. Strong exposure to operational risk management and mitigation frameworks.

3. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

5. High integrity, influencing skills, and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

6. MBA or an equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
